Yes, I love and hate this map. I have used it for four days in Edinburgh. It covers virtually all of the city that we spent time in. It is accurate. It gives useful information about bus stops (which becomes more helpful as you use the Lothian bus lines site for additional information, like route planning). That I loved. So what did I hate? Why not make it a laminated map? The corners of folds were all ripping out by day 2. By day 4 it was a mess. And I handled it carefully, I refold my maps, don't bend pages over and act like they are books. How I wished that I had had a map like one I bought in Milan last year which was laminated, durable and showed stops for buses, trams, underground. Edinburgh is easy to get around in thanks to a great bus system. It is a hassle to have a map that is in tatters, won't fold back up and very simply makes using it a chore. I'd pay extra for such a map and so would anyone who actually uses maps in their travels for navigating metropolitan areas and mass transit -- a must in most European cities.

I’m giving this a 5 star review because this is a nice map, easy to read. I loved the illustrations that give you an idea of what’s around town. I actually used it even before the trip as I planned out our daily itinerary.If I could have taken off a half star I would have, because it’s printed on thin paper & started to rip on the first day of handling... once I saw that would be a little too fragile for my trip, I went over all the corners with clear tape to reinforce it. I should have gone over all the seams too because it did rip a little more along the folds as I used it in Edinburgh. It might not fold as easily but it would hold up a better.Overall, it is a very useful and beautiful map.

I bought this for an upcoming trip to Scotland. It will be very helpful for our stay in Edinburgh - something a guide book cannot do. Rich in detail - tourist sites, restaurants, cafes, hotels, petrol stations, you name it! A separate section on the Royal Mile.

These are really nice maps with lots of visual information, but they're printed on the cheapest, weakest paper imaginable. All the cross-folds tear immediately, almost the first time you unfold the map. We're still in the planning stages of our trip, and already we're patching all the folds with scotch tape. We'll have only three days in Edinburgh, but will have to rely on TI maps 'cause I'm sure this thing will disintegrate the first day. Too bad, and we won't buy any more Collins maps.

this was a very handy map and easy to read. Sadly, it started to rip right after i opened it. I was very careful with it, to no avail, and had to throw it away because it was unusable.

I got this map to use for a trip to Edinburgh. It was precise and very helpful. I would highly recommend.

Very repetitive. It was used as a textbook but we could barely use it in class because the chapters were all over the place and in no particular order. Kinda seemed like it could be summed up in one, pretty short facebook article. Definitely a 4/10 waste of time, only made better by how short it seems.

It seems like the author was forced to meet a certain word count because it's extremely repetitive. It's a little all over the place.

This is required reading for a college Global Media course. It is really well written and the author is easy to follow. He is definitely knowledgeable and knows how to write in a way to keep his audience interested. I am actually reading ahead because I am enjoying the book so much.

This was a required book for my Global Media class and I actually really loved it! Its very easy to read and has good information that is relevant in today's media.

The second edition of Globalization & Media is an outstanding, readable, and interesting text for international communications courses. Last spring I looked for a new text for my university Global Media Systems course. So many texts in the field are hundreds of pages, uninteresting, and unorganized. Lule's text was a big hit---for the professor and the students. Within the manageable 191 pages, Lule focuses on the importance of media's role in political globalization, cultural globalization, and economic globalization. Have media and globalization produced the "Global Village" envisioned by Marshal McLuhan or the "Global Village of Babel," as predicted by Lewis Mumford? The question makes for interesting class discussions.

This ebook version is USELESS BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE PAGE NUMBERS!!! I purchased this ebook prior to the 2016 fall semester and am finally just now writing this review bc (1) this textbook is useless without page numbers and I forgot I even made this purchase since I couldn't use it to follow along in class, (2) Luckily block 1 of nursing school was easy enough for me that I didn't really need the text book, but now that I am going into Block 2 which is Med-Surg, I have to purchase a hard copy of this book that will have page numbers and I'm reminded all over again of the frustration and uselessness of this ebook.I've wasted ~$100 on this and it is not even useable in class because this version DOES NOT SUPPORT PAGE NUMBERS. How am I supposed to turn to a page my professor says during lecture when there is no page numbers?! Since I need to buy a page-numbered copy of this book (in addition to this useless ebook) I'm spending even more than if I bought a brand new hard copy!!!! I REPEAT DO NOT BUY THIS KINDLE VERSION OF THE EBOOK UNLESS YOU ENJOY WASTING EVEN MORE MONEY ON TEXTBOOKS.Seriously, it should be required by Amazon that if you are going to be a text book you should support page numbers!!! I'm never buying an ebook for school ever again from Amazon.

This e-book is horrific. It has made NP2 a living hell. The book has no page numbers so it makes it very inconvenient to determine reading assignments. You basically need to borrow someone's book to determine where to start. The book sometimes freezes up and gets stuck on the same page until you close the program and reopen. For such a difficult subject matter, you really need the hardcopy to be able to easily flip back and forth while reading. Don't play Russian Roulette with your grade, the semester begins very quickly and does not slow down, start off with a bang and don't let the e-book get in the way.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the kindle version is terrible! The pages do not line up with the printed version so I cannot follow along in class. The set up is COMPLETELY different. All my other textbooks set up just like the printed version in my kindle. Not sure why this one does not.

I read a few reviews that were like "two volumes is so convenient as opposed to having one giant, heavy book!" But for me, personally, it was frustrating when my class referenced pages in volume one as well as volume two. So I still had to carry around both books at the same time. Nothing wrong with the book itself just wanted to point that out for students.

Ok condition as pages seem intact, but the spine could be better. It will continue to rip and break the textbook apart with use. Save the $15 difference in price and buy the new book. Wasn't worth the price difference.

Book was purchased new. Paperback is easy to carry rather than a large cumbersome hardcover. Well organized and easy to read font. Book one ends at page 784 and second book starts on 785 so that helps with the transition between books.BUT there is no access code for the online component.

If you have the choice, totally get the 2-volume set! It's split roughly into equal sections so it makes carrying a probably already heavy backpack that much nicer. Chapters are actually organized fairly well. If you nursing program is like mine, then likely the first few chapters are pretty much filler for stuff in your fundamentals of nursing course. It does a fairly good job of refreshing your basic A&P stuff in each chapter of the body systems which, at least for me, was helpful since my anatomy/physiology was never that great.

The key points at the end of each chapter and nursing safety priority boxes/action alert are great in highlighting important information. Material could be organized better, sometimes it feels like you are going around in circles.

This book spends the first 1/4 of it giving a very detailed and interesting history of ford tractors though the time where ford was sold off and changed names. This part of the book is very interesting but it doesn't help much for anybody looking to fix or restore a ford tractor. Also even though it states that it is for tractors 1939-1962 90% of the technical information only applies to the N series tractors. If you have a Hundred series or an 01 series tractor this book is practically useless for learning much. I did pick up a few things and it was an interesting read but for someone who is looking to restore or just work on a tractor this book doesn't help very much. What information it does provide is short and not specific enough to be of any help. If you are looking to just learn more about ford tractors and their history this is a fun book to read. However the title is terribly misleading and it has nothing in it that will be the " ultimate guide for rebuilding and restoring N-series and later tractors". The information in the book can be covered in a web article in about 20 mins. Just google what you need. Even though it was a good book to read because of the misleading title and short chapters I am giving it 2 stars.

Great book for restorers. Bought it for maintenance information. It has some maintenance info. but is written, more for a restorer.

Mostly a novel, more than a now to repair a Ford Tractor.

I work on computers for a living and when I pick up "A Guide for Dummies" book about computers I shake my head in disbelief that anyone needs such simple information. I do my own wrenching around the house, so when I read the glowing reports about this book, I thought it must have some value. I won't go so far as to say I hate it, but I can get this kind of information off the Net. It ranks right there with the Dummies in my mind.I bought the Kindle version, so I don't know what size some of the pictures might be in the paper version, but they are worthless in the electronic version. If I can get my money back I will.

Nothing of any interest to someone actually DOING a restoration. Lame, generic info that anybody with a toolbox knows.

I am not new to old FORD's so i caught some discrepancies ,but nothing of a problematic nature AND in fact i learned more little ditties i didnt know . So , overall a good buy . i have it on computer thru KINDLE for windows and works very well . this may actually convince me to buy KINDLE 3G . When i say "discrepancies" i should also add ; SO MUCH of FORD history is from word of mouth that often FORD had made changes and then back and forth depending on suppliers and markets or even sold stock that many things differ in FORD history . The procedure pictures are EXCELLENT quality . Enough info given to rebuild , but still a good mechanic's manual from I&T or FORD wood be needed as well. i hope to find THEM on KINDLE someday too . NOW on computer ,FORD TRACTOR , KINDLE program is FULL COLOR and very nice just to "flip thru" for enjoyment. buy it , you'll like it !

Don't think you can buy this one book and restore that old tractor that's been sitting in the feild next door for 20 years. No one book can do that. This is a good starter book if you are interested in Ford tractors and think you want to take one on as a project.

This book was the very first book I ever read on cartooning. If you could only choose 1 - this would be the one to pick. It gives an enjoyable overview of the whole process. I have already read it cover to cover several times, but still, I find I will pick it up, - flip pretty much to any page, - and become inspired and excited all over again at what a few simply lines can do. But this is not just the basic "how to do it" book. He also shows you how much you can change the whole flavor of what you have created just by making a few simple changes to your drawing. This author doesn't hold back. He shares all his 'secret techniques'. I have had art instruction from many different people over the years, but his explanations are far better than any I have ever received elsewhere.

If you are wanting to learn cartooning from a master then get this book it has everything you need to know to get started in cartooning step by step instructions on how to get started.

I've been thinking of getting into cartooning for years, but never took the plunge. This book has pushed me off neutral and into drive. The book started off a bit slow, and I wondered if it was going to be useful. After reading a few more pages, it became clear just how useful it will be. The author does a great job covering all aspects of how to produce human and animal characters, as well as special effects that make a cartoon come to life. This is a book I'll refer to again and again during my journey to becoming a cartoonist.

There are a ton of helpful tips and techniques that range from how to draw facial expressions and body types to how to draw ice cubes and water... and even how to convey wind or rain. The author, Christopher Hart, even explains why cartoon characters have only three fingers.This book is very clear, very informative and very funny! I highly recommend this book!

Everything You Wanted to Know about Cartooning but Were Afraid to Draw tricks your ear into thinking that this will be the best guide for drawing cartoons. Unfortunately, that is not the case. While this book is a great reference if I need to know how a sick cartoon looks, it practically rushes through the basic construction of a character. Sure it has some great information in the beginning of the book. For this, I gave it four stars. As the book goes on, though, it starts to lack any real instruction. This does serve a purpose, however. Charistopher Hart wants to to understand the scene and then build you own. I would recommend this with maybe a real instruction book on cartooning.

What a great book. I really like the progression of teaching. For anyone serious about learning cartooning, and willing to put in the time to practice and understand the concepts, this is the best book I've found to date. I highly recommend it.

From what I can tell, this is the premier book on observational studies, and Paul Rosenbaum is clearly an expert on the topic.The book is written at essentially three levels: (a) qualitative discussions, (b) key statistical models and methods, and (c) more advanced and specialized topics, typically involving more advanced mathematics. Readers with a modest background in statistics (like me) will benefit from reading the book at the first level, but the second level will be tough going and the third level will be mostly out of reach. Therefore, I think the target audience for this book is mainly people with a strong background in statistics, which would include advanced undergraduates, graduate students, and professional statisticians.Unlike experiments, observational studies try to discern the effects of treatments in situations where the assignment of treatments to subjects isn't controlled by the investigator. This situation is common in biomedicine and other areas, so this topic is very important. Lack of control in assigning treatments raises questions of overt and potential bias, and the aim of the book is largely to present statistical approaches to identify and analytically adjust for such biases so that plausible conclusions can be drawn regarding the likely effects of treatments. A key point here is that there's no single objectively "correct" statistical approach to use for this purpose, but rather it's a matter of developing statistical models, the validity of which is largely a matter of judgment. In this regard, Rosenbaum appropriately weaves in considerations from the philosophy of science throughout the book, so you'll hear names like Popper, Lakatos, Feyerabend, and Wittgenstein.To the extent that I'm qualified to do so, I recommend this book to anyone with a serious interest in observational studies, and especially to people with a background in statistics strong enough to make full use of the book. Even with my limitations, I benefitted from this book and grasped the main ideas, and I look forward to returning to the book when I'm better prepared to tackle the math.

Many years ago the famous statistician Ronald Aylmer Fisher criticized analyses that linked lung cancer to smoking. He argued that these studies had hidden biases because they were not controlled experiments. He proposed that smokers could be different from non-smokers because of a genetic propensity to desire cigarettes and that this genetic trait could be correlated with a higher incidence of lung cancer. Thus it would be possible to see a higher frequency of lung cancer among smokers because of this genetic trait rather than because the smoking itself causes the cancer. As far-fetched as this argument may seem to us today, it is based on sound statistical principles and points out some of the potential problems that occur with observational studies.Although randomized control trials are the best way to determine differences in treatment effects, they are not always practical or ethical. It would be wrong to randomly choose subjects and force some of them to smoke.Getting around issues of bias in observational studies was first addressed by Cochran who published a book on the subject in 1983. Rosenbaum came out with his own book in 1995 and this second edition expands and updates that popular text.In Chapter 1 he present examples of observational studies and raises many important issues. Chapter 2 explains the principles of randomized controlled experiments. In Chapter 3 he covers overt bias and some of the basic methods to adjust for it. The sensitivity of observational studies to hidden biases is covered in Chapter 4.This book is well written, authoritative and contains numerous references and examples. It also includes a chapter on how to plan an observational study.Such studies are very important to epidemiologists who want to discover the cause of an epidemic or a disease. With large data base it is possible to remove or adjust biases by matching subjects using propensity scores. Rosenbaum effectively describes how propensity scorng and stratification can be used to make observational studies behave more like randomized control trials.

The book is very well written. It gives a great overview of the fundamental problems of causal inference in observastional studies. It has a lot of examples, homeworks and extensive references in every chapter.
